Privacy policy

Data controller

Stephen Fafournoux (in an individual capacity — pre-launch page, no sales underway), contact: contact@captionbuild.com.

Data collected

  • Waitlist: email address, language, consent to be contacted again.
  • Coming — Browsing the site: anonymous usage statistics via an audience measurement tool, only if you have accepted the consent banner.
  • Coming — Purchase: email and payment information, processed directly by Stripe (never stored by us).
  • Coming — License activation: license key and anonymous installation identifier (install_id, a technical identifier, not a personal one).

Purposes

  • Manage the waitlist and inform you of the launch.
  • Coming — Measure site audience anonymously (with your consent).
  • Coming — Process your order, deliver your license, and enforce its device limit.

Legal basis

Consent, for the waitlist. Consent will extend to audience measurement cookies once the corresponding tool is in place, and performance of the contract will be added as a legal basis once sales open (processing of the purchase and the license).

Subprocessors

  • Coming — an anonymous audience measurement tool (hosted in the European Union), once in place.
  • Coming — Stripe (payment), Resend (license email), Supabase (hosting of order/license data), once sales open.

Retention period

Waitlist emails: 3 years from the last contact (standard duration recommended by the CNIL for prospecting data), unless you request earlier deletion.

Coming — once sales open: payment data itself is retained by Stripe for its own regulatory obligations, not by us. Sales documents (invoices) nonetheless remain subject to the French legal obligation to retain accounting documents, currently set at 10 years (article L123-22 of the French Commercial Code) — in practice via exported Stripe receipts.

Your rights

You have a right of access, rectification, erasure, and objection over your personal data. To exercise it, contact contact@captionbuild.com. You can also file a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr).

Transfers outside the European Union

No subprocessor is currently in place, so no data is transferred outside the EU. Coming — the audience measurement tool and the subprocessors related to sales (Stripe, Resend, Supabase) will be documented here with their own safeguards (European Commission standard contractual clauses where applicable) once configured.
